Custom Buildings in Volusia County, Florida

Volusia County runs from the beach to the St. Johns River, and the right building changes a lot across that distance. Near the coast it is wind exposure and salt air. Out west around DeLand, Pierson, and Barberville it is farms, ferneries, and horse properties that need barns and equipment cover.

Custom barn built by Buildings By Bill in Volusia County, Florida

We build on both sides of the county. Garages, workshops, and boat storage closer to the coast, and horse barns, hay storage, and shade and equipment structures inland. The engineering changes with the location, which is the part that cannot be copied from one job to the next.

What we build in Volusia County

Coast versus inland: what changes

Design wind speeds step up as you move toward the Atlantic, so a building in Ormond Beach or New Smyrna is engineered to a different standard than the same building in DeLand. That shows up in post embedment, connections, and fastener patterns rather than in anything you can see from the road.

Salt air is the other coastal factor. Closer to the beach, fastener and trim selection matters for how a building ages, and it is worth getting right the first time.

Inland, the considerations are more familiar: sandy soil, seasonal water in the low spots, and the fern and nursery operations around Pierson and Seville that need shade and equipment structures more than they need finished walls.

We build throughout Volusia County, including Deltona, DeLand, DeBary, Orange City, Osteen, Pierson, Barberville, Seville, New Smyrna Beach, and the Daytona area. See our Deltona page or view all service areas.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are coastal Volusia buildings engineered differently?

Yes. Design wind speeds increase as you approach the Atlantic, so a coastal building gets different post embedment, connections, and fastening than the same structure built inland. Every project is engineered for its own location.

Do you build for fern and nursery operations?

Yes. The Pierson and Seville area needs shade structures, equipment cover, and workspace, which is exactly what post-frame construction does well.

Which building department handles my permit?

Unincorporated parcels go through Volusia County, while Deltona, DeLand, Orange City, and the other municipalities issue their own. We confirm the jurisdiction before drawings and handle the submittal.
