What is a Barndominium?

Barndominium Homes can be referred to as barn homes, barndos, or barndo homes.

These barndos are a post-frame barn style building that combines the spaciousness and convenience with the comfort and style of a condominium.

These can be designed with additional space for a workshop, garage, covered porches, or lean-to's.

Here at Buildings By Bill, Inc., we categorize a barndo into 2 sections: the exterior, (or "shell") and the interior.

The barndo shell includes the concrete pad, roof, doors, walls, and windows.

The interior consists of plumbing, septic, HVAC, electric, flooring, framing, drywall, painting, cabinetry, and all the other interior finishes needed to complete your home.

We specialize in the construction of the exterior or the barndo shell only.

Buildings By Bill will build the barndo shell that includes the concrete pad, doors, windows, the walls, wood or metal trusses, and a metal roof or shingles) according to Florida Building Codes and Wind Loads to be used for residential living. The exterior will be dried in and secured with your choice of the exterior finish (Hardi Board, Board & Batten, metal, wood, vinyl, etc).

At this point, you can either finish the interior of your new home yourself using your own contacts OR you can hire your own Licensed General Contractor who uses certified tradesmen (trades), ie., electricians, plumbers, HVAC, drywall hangers, painters, and other contractors to finish the interior of your home!

Barndominium homes or barndo shells are becoming very popular not only for their style and looks, but these barn homes are cheaper to build than the typical concrete block homes.
